Scoring
Hold, Conquer, the Final Point, winning, and Burn Out. Written for rules effective 2026-10-16.
Hold and Conquer
Scoring is seizing or keeping control of a battlefield you have not yet scored this turn. It is not the same thing as gaining points.
Hold and Conquer
Conquer: you gain control of a battlefield you have not scored this turn.
Hold and Conquer
Hold: during your Beginning Phase, you keep control of a battlefield you have not scored this turn.
Hold and Conquer
You can score each battlefield once per turn, by either method.
Hold and Conquer
Scoring gains you up to one point and triggers Conquer or Hold abilities at that battlefield, once per turn.
Rule 473.1 · Rule 473.2 · Rule 473.2.a · Rule 473.2.b · Rule 473.2.c
The Final Point
A Conquer when you are one point from the Victory Score or higher gains the Final Point only if you have scored every battlefield this turn. Otherwise you draw a card instead.
The Final Point
Points from anything other than a Conquer do not have this restriction.
Winning
Points come from Hold, Conquer, spells and abilities, and an opponent's Burn Out.
Rule 194.1.a · Rule 194.1.b · Rule 194.1.c · Rule 194.1.d
Winning
In a cleanup, a player with points at or above the Victory Score and more than any other player wins. The Victory Score is 8 by default.
Rule 194.2 · Rule 194.3 · Rule 474
Winning
If more than one player is at or above the Victory Score, the one with more points wins. If they are tied, play continues until one has more in a cleanup.
Winning
A player cannot have fewer than 0 points.
Burn Out
You Burn Out when you must move more cards from your Main Deck than it holds. Do as much as you can, then follow the sequence below, then finish the rest of the action.
Rule 432.1 · Rule 432.1.a · Rule 432.1.b
Burn Out
Sequence: do as much of the action as possible; recycle your Trash into your Main Deck, randomized; choose an opponent to gain 1 point; complete the remainder of the action.
Rule 432.2.a · Rule 432.2.b · Rule 432.2.c · Rule 432.2.d
Burn Out
Looking at or revealing more cards than remain does not Burn Out.
Burn Out
With an empty deck and an empty Trash you burn out again each time. After the first, those points cannot be replaced or prevented, and an opponent who reaches the Victory Score and has more points than every other player wins immediately, without waiting for a cleanup.
Rule 432.3 · Rule 432.3.a · Rule 432.3.b · Rule 432.3.c · Rule 432.3.c.1

In the Draw Phase a Burn Out is followed by the draw of 1 as usual.
